A Collaborative Governing Body Guided by Peers and Colleagues

Welcome to another fantastic edition of School BUSRide! As we embrace the fall season, our work year is in full momentum. The summer days have concluded for many of our districts, with some transitioning in the coming weeks. Regardless of where you find yourself in this late summer, early fall period, I am confident that everyone is completely dedicated to our objectives! We are advancing rapidly, putting in our best efforts, and striving for excellence!

Keeping abreast of trends, products, regulations, laws, the needs of our schools, and our industry is essential! To achieve success, we must remain vigilant. NAPT is dedicated to ensuring that you not only survive but also thrive. This publication, our annual conference, certifications, PDS courses, and legislative advocacy are all designed to equip you with the tools you need to excel! Our goals are straightforward: we are here for you. We are here to enhance student safety through education and support!

NAPT is governed by your peers and colleagues. Although we are supported by a dedicated professional staff, our guidance and future are shaped by engaged, full-time transportation officials who understand your daily challenges. While everyone’s experiences may differ, they help us maintain our focus on what truly matters to the needs of our members. We recognize that while you excel in your role, it is our goal is to assist you in enhancing your performance even further!

Early in my career, I discovered that although I was part of an excellent school district, I needed to deepen my knowledge and build connections. My continuous improvement stemmed not from celebrating my own achievements or expertise, but from expanding our networks and observing the successes of others. This approach allowed me to learn from both my triumphs and setbacks. Additionally, it helped me cultivate a robust and supportive network of colleagues who have now become lifelong friends.

Engaging with diverse perspectives and learning from different experiences enriched both my professional and personal life. By attending workshops, seminars, and conferences, I was able to gather valuable insights that directly impacted our district’s performance and student safety initiatives. These opportunities not only broadened my understanding but also inspired innovative solutions to challenges we faced. The collaborative spirit I found in these settings reinforced the idea that we are all part of a larger community working toward the common goal of enhancing educational outcomes and ensuring safe and efficient transportation for students.

This summer, I had the wonderful opportunity to connect with numerous members at state conferences. The remarkable work your state associations are undertaking is truly commendable! Your commitment to fostering a vibrant and supportive community is truly inspiring. As we look toward the future, let’s collectively strive to innovate and adapt to the ever-changing landscape of student transportation. By working together, we can ensure that our services not only meet but exceed the expectations of the communities we serve.

Welcome to this magical time of the year! I hope to see many of you in person at ACTS25 in Grand Rapids, MI this October  31 – November 4! In case you missed it, check out the conference program, which was released last month!

With love, respect, and a knowing nod,

Molly
