In January 2026, the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) launched an ambitious 16-month public awareness initiative designed to elevate the story of student transportation across America. Titled Driven Together, this campaign represents more than a communications effort—it is a unified movement to celebrate, protect, and strengthen the yellow school bus as the safest and most trusted mode of transportation for students.
With the guiding taglines “Every Ride, Every Child, Every Day” and “Student Safety Is Our Number One Priority,” Driven Together positions NAPT as the foremost authority on school transportation safety, policy, and innovation. The campaign runs from January 2026 through April 2027 and engages members, state affiliates, business partners, policymakers, parents, and the broader public in a coordinated national effort.
A Strategic Vision for Public Awareness
This public awareness campaign will succeed by informing, educating, and influencing targeted audiences. Driven Together is carefully structured to:
• Reinforce the yellow school bus as the safest form of student transportation.
• Expand NAPT’s visibility and credibility among media and policymakers.
• Unite professionals across districts, vendors, and state associations.
• Support advocacy for funding, workforce development, and safety initiatives.
• Celebrate the drivers, technicians, directors, and leaders who protect students daily.
The campaign is built on research, message development, channel selection, implementation, and measurable evaluation. Through press outreach, digital engagement, workshops, webinars, community partnerships, and targeted advocacy, Driven Together delivers consistent, persuasive messaging nationwide.
The 16-Month Theme Framework
Each month highlights a distinct theme to sustain energy and focus while addressing critical aspects of student transportation.
January/February 2026 – “Driven Together Begins”
The campaign launches with a national press release, a video message from NAPT leadership, social media toolkits for members, and the development of a new campaign microsite. Love the Bus Month activities are integrated into the rollout. Outreach to members, affiliates, business partners, and association partners ensures unified messaging from day one.
March – “The Safest Ride in America”
Safety takes center stage with infographics, public service announcements, and technical features highlighting vehicle safety standards, inspections, and federal motor vehicle safety requirements. Garage tours, technician spotlights, and expert webinars reinforce parent trust and operational transparency.
April – “Heroes Behind the Wheel”
Workforce appreciation and recruitment are highlighted through driver stories, state recognition programs, and workforce toolkits for districts. Social media campaigns celebrate longevity, heroism, and the professionalism required to serve students every day.
May – “Greener Miles, Cleaner Future”
Sustainability and innovation take the spotlight. Press features on electric and alternative fuel buses, collaboration with environmental partners, and webinars on emissions reduction demonstrate how school transportation supports environmental stewardship while maintaining safety excellence.
June – “Trust on Wheels”
Family engagement becomes the focus. Parent-friendly materials, safety guides, PTA partnerships, and student activities—including coloring contests—help families understand their role in bus stop safety and reinforce confidence in local transportation teams.
July – “Driven by Community”
Partnerships and local impact stories are featured across digital platforms. LinkedIn campaigns emphasize collaborative leadership, while summer safety reminders keep awareness strong during off-peak months.
August – “Safety Never Takes a Break”
As districts prepare for back-to-school season, NAPT releases planning materials, podcasts, and media PSAs reinforcing year-round safety. National School Bus Safety Week preparation materials are distributed.
September – “Together on the Yellow Bus”
Back-to-school season includes “Ride Yellow Day,” social media takeovers, photo contests, and policy briefings. The month highlights the historic and ongoing role of school buses in serving rural communities, students with disabilities, and families nationwide.
October – “Driven to Protect”
Regulatory advocacy comes to the forefront. Public letters, funding support statements, and policy engagement activities strengthen NAPT’s voice in state and federal discussions.
November – “Innovation in Motion”
Technology and modernization are showcased through GPS demonstrations, routing software features, camera systems, and webinars on the “Smart School Bus.” National School Bus Driver Appreciation Week activities are amplified.
December – “Thank You for the Ride”
Gratitude and reflection define the month. Social media “Thank You Walls,” video montages from members, and a year-end report celebrate accomplishments and recognize frontline professionals.
January/February 2027 – “Driven Together: The Journey Forward”
The campaign culminates with a recap, a leadership message from the NAPT Board, and a forward-looking vision that establishes Driven Together as an annual awareness platform.
Core Campaign Components
Driven Together is supported by:
• Public service announcements
• Monthly media outreach and op-eds
• Dedicated hashtag: #DrivenTogetherNAPT
• Weekly digital themes such as #SafetySaturday and #MeetTheDriverMonday
• Community engagement tools, including proclamation templates and safety pledges
• Advocacy briefings and regulatory roundtables

A robust measurement plan (including media tracking, engagement analytics, surveys, and KPI dashboards) ensures accountability and continuous improvement.
Building a Unified Voice
The strength of Driven Together lies in collaboration. NAPT works alongside educational associations, safety organizations, manufacturers, and state affiliates to amplify consistent messaging. Members are encouraged to use campaign graphics, stock articles, videos, and workshop materials to enhance local outreach efforts.
By March 2027, NAPT expects measurable growth in media impressions, partnerships, member engagement, and, most importantly, broader public recognition of the yellow school bus as a symbol of safety, trust, and community.
Driven Together is more than a campaign. It is a commitment—uniting professionals, partners, families, and policymakers around one shared promise: every ride, every child, every day. We invite you to join us on this journey.
