NAPT on the Road: May 2025

In this month’s edition of On the Road, the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) continues its journey across the country, engaging with local leaders and contributing to national dialogues that shape the future of student transportation.

On May 1, NAPT Executive Director and CEO Dr. Molly McGee-Hewitt delivered the keynote address at the Massachusetts Association for Pupil Transportation (MAPT) Annual Business Meeting in Milford, MA. Her presentation, titled “How Great Leaders Build Strong Teams,” emphasized the importance of encouragement, empowerment, and engagement in fostering effective teams. Dr. McGee-Hewitt also shared updates from NAPT, highlighting the organization’s commitment to supporting local initiatives and celebrating Massachusetts’ achievements in student transportation.

Following this, NAPT representatives participated in the 17th National Congress on School Transportation (NCST), held from May 4–7 in Des Moines, Iowa. The NCST, convened every five years, brings together state delegates and industry experts to review and update the National School Transportation Specifications and Procedures (NSTSP). NAPT’s involvement underscores its dedication to establishing consistent, safety-centered guidelines that address emerging technologies, alternative fuels, and the evolving needs of students with disabilities and special health care requirements.

Through these engagements, NAPT reinforces its role as a leader in pupil transportation, bridging local insights with national standards to ensure safe, efficient, and equitable transportation for all students.
