The Closing Session of the NAPT ACTS was a vibrant, interactive experience that celebrated the accomplishments of the conference and looked toward the future. Drum Café USA energized attendees with an interactive drumming performance, encouraging everyone to drum along, with custom NAPT drumsticks, to create a sense of unity and excitement. Participants were reminded of their shared mission in pupil transportation, emphasizing collaboration and community through rhythmic engagement. The session leader announced that “these sticks are not just wood—they represent your voice, your rhythm, and your commitment”
Executive Director Molly McGee-Hewitt provided an update on the association’s future, speaking on NAPT’s commitment to supporting members with new programs and resources. She spoke of NAPT’s focus on embracing technological advances, expanding educational tools, and enhancing member outreach, highlighting the importance of adapting to the changing landscape of student transportation.
A special part of the session was the Hall of Fame inductions:
Ken Hedgecock, National Sales Manager, United Safety and Survivability Corporation
Larry Riggsbee, Executive Director, Tennessee Association for Pupil Transportation
Willie A. Tarleton, Retired Director of Transportation
Each inductee was celebrated for their contributions, with Larry Riggsbee remembered for his mantra, “Is it best for the children?” which guided his 37-year career in Tennessee, and Ken Hedgecock expressing gratitude for his journey in an industry where “we get to make a difference every day.”
